Freedom & Liberty Requires Responsibility
We all are seeing protests, people with posters and hear people complain that they don’t have enough freedom, and want more liberty…
What freedom or liberty are you actually not getting?
You may want more Freedom & Liberty, but many behave as though we’ve got all we can handle! And this complaint came well before Covid-19 and the ‘stay at home’ orders.
As is laid out in our Constitution, we do have more freedom & liberty than any other county in the world, but with that freedom, comes responsibility.
The ‘responsibility’ is that our freedom should never interfere – with another person’s freedom! So we have laws to protect everyone’s freedoms…
Unfortunately, we don’t always handle our freedoms and liberty well – and then another law is born – to protect someone else’s freedom.
All of our laws exist to protect someone else’s freedom and liberty, and their ability to pursue happiness – – which is only fair. You are even free to be reckless with your own life or property – just not someone else’s!
> You can’t take what isn’t yours – because it belongs to someone else.
> You can’t speed or drive drunk, because we all know you may hurt or kill someone – someone who has their right to live!
> You can’t hunt without a license & training because some hunters shoot other hunters.
> And you cannot walk around with a deadly virus, and potentially put the lives of others at risk, because they also have the right to life and happiness.
We Live in a country where our Constitutional law gives us all equal protections for life, liberty and the ability to pursue happiness, and our only responsibility is to think of others and ensure they are protected, and have those same rights!
And as long as we respect that others deserve the same freedoms as we do, we all actually do have our liberty and our freedom.
